Giving Back to the Community
My Guys Moving & Storage of Richmond is a member of Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization made of moving companies around the country who donate non-perishable goods to local food banks.
If you’re moving with My Guys Moving & Storage of Richmond, just ask us for some specially marked boxes that you can put your non-perishable food into. Our guys will bring the boxes with them and even take them back with them to the Central Virginia Food Bank.
Even if you aren’t moving with us, please consider making a donation of the canned goods you won’t be moving so that they can go to the Central Virginia Food Bank! We have participated in several food drives this year, including with our partners at ReMax Action and the Patterson Ave Baptist Church. Together, we collected over 1,000 lbs. of non-perishable donations for the Central Virginia Food Bank. We also make an annual donation to the Food Bank so our fellow Richmonders have a place to go.
We also were a sponsor at the St. Elizabeth’s Jazz and Food Festival and help The Coal Pit Learning Center. Recently My Guys Moving did a free move for the The READ Center – an organization that helps all people learn to read! If your group or organization needs help with a food drive or another worthy charity call My Guys Moving and we will do our best to donate our time and trucks!
From about the last decade My Guys Moving & Storage has worked with St Michael Catholic Church in Glen Allen, VA on their annual Haiti yard sale. We donate a day with 2 guys and a truck to work with a St. Mike’s volunteer to go house to house picking up furniture and other larger items. The yard sale nets around $30,000 to help the people of Dos Palais Haiti in the many find ministries St. Mike’s helps them with including clean water, a new school, a new church, food for the school, a goat program and so much more. This sale has been on pause with Covid, we hope we can help again this year!
One of the owners of My Guys Moving & Storage of Richmond is also an active member of Rotary International at his local branch, the Rotary Club of Innsbrook. In 2012, the Rotary Club of Innsbrook received the Presidential Citation and was recognized as the best club in the world with more than 101 members due to their commitment to service, generosity to The Rotary Foundation and membership growth.
Rotarians are united in a global campaign to eradicate polio and address six major areas of humanitarian service: maternal and child health, water and sanitation, peace and conflict resolution, basic education and literacy, disease prevention and treatment and economic and community development.
In 2012, My Guys Moving & Storage (then operating under a different name) partnered with Champion Homes Realty to organize a donation drive for those in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States affected by Hurricane Sandy. We collected donations at our warehouse and drove a truck full of everything from clothes to flashlights to bedding up to New Jersey for distribution. NBC12 did a story on the drive and helped spread the word, and then followed up after we had dropped off the donations.
We have been able to help Ukrainian Refugees through the Jewish Family Service of Richmond. This organization is helping bring refugees to safety here in Richmond. Through donations, we have been able to help refugees settle into their new home.
We feel deeply rewarded to serve the Richmond community — and Richmond rewards us back!

Bridget Johnson, one of the guys. Bridget has been with My Guys Moving since 2015. She wears many hats as do we all. She is a CSR, takes care of payables, closes our jobs (collects the money). She set up storage in our new CRM system. Her primary job is to be sure that Dani has her food ready in the morning and then gets her morning walk!
Dave is one of the guys. He handles all the things no one else wants, book keeping, finances, marketing, estimates, SEO, CRM and other acronyms. Dave hates phone trees, having come from big business, for this reason someone will always answer the phone at My Guys Moving! Dave has been with My Guys Moving since 2008. Dave is a member of the Innsbrook Rotary club and St. Elizabeth’s Catholic church. He devotees time to community service, his family, reading and college sports. He and his wife Ann love to travel and have seen a good chuck of the world. He brings his dog, Dani, to work every day. She helps keep the office calm.
Dani is the office dog. She comes in to make sure the guys are calm and happy. She loves her dog treats and her time in the office, her motto is, “you never work a day in your life if you love what you do”. She takes her mascot duties very seriously. Dani is a rescue, and a purebred American Foxhound. She is the state dog of Virginia!
Ray Holloway is one of the guys. Ray is responsible for our warehouse, our dispatch and keeping all necessary supplies on hand. Like all of us, Ray may answer the phone, bring equipment to the guys, get packing material ready and anything else we need him to do. Ray is a member of 5th Baptist Church and loves helping his mom keep her house and land clean and neat.
Nancy Garrett is one of the guys. In her role, she handles interstate moves, on-going relationships with companies that use the warehouse, claims – everyone’s favorite job – and of course answering the phone to field all customer calls. She occasionally will help on pack jobs and do in-home surveys. Nancy enjoys time with her children and grandchildren, likes to travel and spends time with her pets. She is the back up for feeding Dani, her most important task!
Mike Corbin is one of the guys. Mike is likely to answer the phone when you call. Our phone is always answered by a person from 8 am to 5 pm. In addition to his role as a CSR quoting local, long-distance moves, storage and packing Mike helps without IT needs, our phones and anything else he is asked to do. When not at work Mike produces podcasts, YouTube videos and enjoys video games.
